Swimsuit Launch Week Diary: Day 3
It's the final night in Vegas and the models are ready to celebrate. See what went down
It’s 2:49 a.m. on Thursday night/Friday morning and my trip to Las Vegas for swimsuit launch week is just about over. I made the curious decision last week to change my noon flight to one that leaves at 7 a.m. so I have four hours until I depart. Do I sleep for two hours or stay up and blog about the final night of debauchery? I’m going with Option B. Enjoy.
The festivities took place at 1OAK and the blurry dude with the mic is Chris Harrison, host of The Bachelor franchise and the night’s MC. He’s standing with Katherine Webb, whose swimsuit photos you can see exclusively on SwimDaily (cheap plug, I know).
This year’s swimsuit issue features photos taken on all seven continents. The models were introduced by the continent they shot their photos in. Representing Africa were Cintia, Adaora and Emily.
Julie and Ariel took the stage next to represent Europe.
Chrissy, Jess and Kate were next up, representing South America. At this point, my camera started to bug out so I missed North America, Australia and Asia. Apologies to all citizens of those continents who are offended by the snub.
I got my camera working again just in time for Antarctica and its representative, Kate Upton. Posing with Kate are Chris Stone (SI’s managing editor), MJ Day (SI’s swimsuit editor) and Chris Hercik (SI’s creative director).
After the models were introduced, Pitbull took the stage to entertain the crowd. Unfortunately for Mr. Bull, the crowd was somewhat distracted by the sight of 10 swimsuit models dancing on a podium facing the stage.
I have no idea what Adaora is looking at or why Kate is holding a single rose. Maybe she got it from Chris Harrison.
Katherine gets down during the Pitbull performance. I have no idea who those two guys are but somewhere Brent Musburger is jealous.
Emily checks her phone while Anne V dances away. Anne V was a dancing machine throughout the night.
Hannah takes a break from Pitbull to pose for a photo. Did you know she was a highly-ranked junior tennis player who may have turned pro had she not decided to model? I think she made the right decision.
Adaora blows me a kiss (actually she is blowing the camera a kiss but it’s more fun to think it was for me).
At this point, I really had to go to the bathroom but had no idea where it was. I somehow ended up in this VIP area where Chrissy and Jess were hanging out.
After finding the bathroom, I headed to the after-party at Bank in the Bellagio Hotel. It was already past 1 a.m. and I was exhausted. As you can see, Anne V and Ariel were still going strong.
I was able to coax Julie, Alyssa and MJ away from their dance party to pose for a quick pic.
Troy Robertson, one of SI’s swimsuit photographers, gets down with Natasha.
Emily and Kate, both SI Swimsuit rookies, strike a quick pose on the dance floor. And you thought Mike Trout was a talented rookie.
